Chapter 59

The reason why Baiyan Temple is called Baiyan Temple is probably because the temple happened to be built on Baiyan Mountain.

Baiyan Mountain is famous for its rugged milky white granite. The mountain is not steep and steep. It is more like hills than a mountain.

The Baiyan Temple located here is one of the largest temples within a radius of dozens of miles. It is just at the foot of the mountain, and Fahai seems to be able to smell the incense on the top of the mountain that lasts for many years.

Climbing up the stairs, not long after, a magnificent vision appeared in front of you.

The stacked circles of yellow walls and green tiles mark a large piece of flat land, and the two Skanda Bodhisattvas standing opposite each other in front of the Buddhist temple are even more majestic.

When the temple door is wide open, you will see the Maitreya Buddha lying on the altar. He is fat and has a big belly. He is always smiling, as if he has read all the joys in the world.

After straightening his clothes, Fahai put on a shy smile and walked toward the temple gate.

When they heard the sound of pilgrims going up the mountain, the two welcoming monks in front of the door were overjoyed and were about to step forward to greet them.

When he saw clearly that the person who came was a young monk who was just like them, although there was nothing unusual on his face, Fahai could still keenly see some disgust in their eyes.

"Amitabha, young monk Fahai has met these two senior brothers."

He stretched out his hand to avoid hitting the smiling man, and when he saw Fa Hai, he respectfully addressed him as two senior brothers. However, the two monks also hurriedly returned the greeting, and their attitude became much better unknowingly.

After saying hello, Fahai explained the purpose of his visit.

"The young monk traveled all the way from Weishan Temple in Ningxiang to this place. He passed by Bao Temple and wanted to stay for a while. I have been waiting for a few days. I wonder if you two brothers can make it convenient?"

Before Fahai entered the door, he noticed that the two Skanda statues at the door were holding demon-conquering pestles high on their backs, which meant that this was a large temple that could provide free food and accommodation for wandering monks for three days, so he came here.

Words.

The two monks looked at each other and thought about it carefully, but they had never heard of a big temple named Weishan Temple within a hundred miles, so they couldn't help but feel a little contempt in their eyes.

After hesitating for a while, one of them tentatively asked:

"How many days will you stay here... I wonder if Junior Brother can have an ultimatum?"

"Of course this exists."

Hearing the other party's tone and knowing that the matter was finally settled, Fahai smiled and took out an ultimatum from his sleeve and handed it over.

After checking Fahai's ultimatum, I found that it was not false. The monk who just spoke looked a little ugly again.

Returning the ultimatum to Fa Hai, Fang said with some reluctance:

"It's okay if you just stay for a few days, but there are often relatives of noble people visiting and staying overnight in the temple to pray to the Buddha. You must not walk around in the temple to avoid bumping into the noble people. Have you ever remembered?"

"Amitabha, the young monk will naturally be spared."

Fahai hurriedly agreed.

Seeing that the other party's attitude was very respectful, the monk who greeted the guests could not find any way to attack him, so he had to hold his breath and urge the junior brother beside him.

"Juesi, why don't you take this junior brother to the guest room to stay, and report to the abbot by the way."

"Why is it always me? You are happy to be at ease..."

After muttering a few words, another younger monk reluctantly stood up and yelled at Fahai angrily.

"Monk Wu, hurry up and follow me."

"Then I'll trouble you more, senior brother."

Fa Hai especially had a gentle and shy smile on his face, making him look like a pure and cute person who was not yet deeply involved in the world.

After twisting and turning all the way to a remote guest room, Juesi pinched his nose and opened the door.

Probably because no one has lived in it for too long, there is still a faint musty smell in the guest room.

"The temple is short of manpower. In the past, there were not many monks doing orders, so we didn't do much cleaning. I hope my junior brother won't dislike it."

Juesi said angrily, with a hint of well-hidden schadenfreude on his face.

"It doesn't matter, the young monk is already satisfied with having a sheltered place."

After walking around the room, I saw that the room was not big, but it was well-equipped. Although the bedding was old, it was clean and fresh.

Fahai still looked shy, and his expression seemed to be somewhat satisfied and grateful.

Becoming more and more certain that the other person was just a wandering monk from a small ruined temple, Juesi casually exchanged a few words with him and left on the pretext of having something to do.

When he was gone, the smile on Fahai's face remained, as if he didn't care.

After opening the window, the musty smell came through, and Fahai slowly walked out of the house again.

The other party only said not to let him wander around so as not to bump into the noble man, but in any case, the monk worshiping Buddha and chanting sutras should not be a collision, right?

Not to mention what happened on one side of the sea, on the other side, in the abbot's courtyard.

"That's pretty much it."

Juesi, who had been quite unruly towards Fahai before, now respectfully reported everything to someone truthfully.

"Oh? According to you, is there anything wrong with that monk?"

After hearing what Juesi said, the man frowned and asked.

"From what I can see, the young monk is just a wandering monk from a small temple. He doesn't look like he has seen the world. It doesn't matter if we just keep him for a few days. The abbot can rest assured."

Juesi didn't care about the man's caution, but he still answered the other person's questions honestly.

"Be careful when sailing a thousand-year boat. In this way, I think you can find a few disciples to accompany him. In the name of asking for Buddhist teachings, if there is anything wrong with him."

The middle-aged monk who was called the abbot by Juesi had a ferocious look on his face. He made a knife-like gesture with his left hand and slashed hard. Then he quickly returned to his appearance of a kind and kind monk.

"Disciple, obey!"

Subconsciously shrinking his head, Juesi responded repeatedly, suddenly seeming to remember something.

"By the way, I have one more thing to report to the abbot."

"What happened?"

Just as the other party was about to turn around, he suddenly turned around after hearing Juesi's words.

"That young monk is quite handsome. I remember a few days ago, the governor's wife happened to ask if there was any handsome young monk in the temple. Abbot, why don't you think..."

Juesi raised his eyebrows and suddenly stopped mid-sentence.

The abbot understood what he meant, hesitated for a long time, and then shook his hand.

"Don't mention this matter again. The origin of the young monk is unknown. It would be bad if he was sent from somewhere. It's better not to cause trouble by relying on it."

When the abbot rejected his proposal, he didn't even think about it. He agreed respectfully and left the room.

When I walked to the door, I was suddenly stopped by the abbot.

"Remember to ask the kitchen staff to send some vegetarian food to the young monk later. Just pick some leftover steamed buns and pickles to eat. Don't be disrespectful in terms of etiquette."

After Juesi walked away, the abbot looked out the window expressionlessly and finally murmured to himself:

"Let's wait two more days. If he behaves honestly during these few days, it may not be impossible to recruit him into the group."
