Out of caution, Fahai did not immediately explore the secrets of this temple after walking out of the room.
When he went up the mountain earlier, Fahai was not able to take a good look at the scenery in the temple because he was abruptly stopped by two monks who knew the guest at the door.
Now that I have some leisure time, it is natural that I cannot avoid paying homage.
Just a few steps into the entrance, a lotus pond with rippling blue waves comes into view. The pink and white lotuses bloom in the pond regardless of the four seasons, which is very magical.
Seeing Fa Hai's doubts, the pilgrims with good intentions were happy to tell him that it turned out that this also involved a past incident when Baiyan Temple was founded.
It is said that a hundred years ago, when this huge Baiyan Mountain was still a wilderness, the founder of Baiyan Temple, Monk Zhixian, once dug a cave here to practice Buddhism.
However, the wise, wise, and dull people read all the Buddhist scriptures but cannot find them. After ten days, they will no longer be able to hold on.
In a trance, I suddenly saw Sanskrit chanting in the sky and the earth, flowers falling from the sky, clear springs gushing from the earth, and Guanyin Bodhisattva emerging from the void, appearing to preach for him, and explaining the five flavors and hundred dharma of Buddhism.
Monk Zhixian, who fell into epiphany, woke up again, only to find that the sky was as usual and the Bodhisattva was nowhere to be seen.
I thought that everything in this place was just an illusion of light, but when I looked carefully, I suddenly found that a blue spring suddenly appeared out of thin air among the originally jagged white rocks. It was winter, but there were still pink lotuses floating on it.
Not showing any sign of despair.
Only then did Zhixian suddenly realize that he had really met the Bodhisattva who showed mercy and enlightened the world.
After using spring water to quench his thirst and lotus seeds to satisfy his hunger, Monk Zhixian practiced hard on the Baiyan Mountain for more than ten years and finally gained something.
In gratitude for the Bodhisattva's grace in attaining enlightenment, he built a Guanyin Hall on Baiyan Mountain with his own hands, stone and wood, and established the inheritance of the Baiyan Temple sect.
Continuing to this day, after several generations of development, it has become the largest temple within dozens of miles without even realizing it.
There is a winding floating bridge made of white stone on the lotus pond. After crossing the bridge, within a few steps you will find two magnificent Buddhist temples.
Buddhism respects the right side.
The slightly taller one on the right is the Medicine Buddha Hall, while the slightly lower one on the left enshrines the golden body of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva.
In the main hall, morning bells and evening drums were randomly placed in front of the Buddha, and even there was a thin layer of dust on them.
Many monks were busy reading fortunes for pilgrims and praying for blessings, but no one was seen sitting in front of the Buddha, chanting sutras and chanting the Buddha's name.
Shaking his head, folding his hands and reciting the Heart Sutra silently, Fahai walked around the main hall and walked towards the back.
In addition to the two main halls in the middle, there is a row of halls at the back of the temple, which enshrine other images of Bodhisattvas and Arhats from right to left.
The one on the far right is obviously much more incense-filled than the other rooms. Even the temple can be seen showing traces of renovation. It must be dedicated to the Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva who is said to have tried hundreds of times to achieve success.
It's just that Fahai stood in front of the Bodhisattva statue. No matter how he used his clairvoyance, he couldn't see anything magical about it.
I happened to see a couple walking through the door with worried faces. Not long after, the husband walked out happily alone, but the beautiful woman was missing.
Fa Hai was moved in his heart, but on the surface he stopped him silently.
"Amitabha, young monk Fahai, have seen this donor and dare to ask his name."
After reciting the Buddha's name, Fahai put on an innocent look that was harmless to humans and animals.
"Your surname is Wu. I wonder what the young elder's instructions are?"
I was a little impatient when someone stopped me, and I was about to scold him, but when I saw that it was a monk from the temple who was questioning me, the man quickly put on a smile.
"Donor Wu, to tell you the truth, the young monk happened to be traveling and passed by the treasure land. He heard that Guanyin in this temple is very effective in sending children, and he was quite curious. I wonder if the donor can help the young monk clear up his doubts?"
Fahai's sincere face, coupled with his ordinary handsome face, makes people feel good about him.
The man didn't refuse. Perhaps because he felt some concern in his heart, he started chatting with Fahai in great interest.
It turns out that there were no rumors about the effectiveness of Guanyin in the temple. After the abbot took charge of the temple, he suddenly dreamed that Guanyin was preaching to him, saying that the Buddha was moved by the sincerity of the hundreds of thousands of Buddhas in Xuanping City.
, specially sent her dharma body to come to the world to bless the descendants of those who are willing to give charity.
Anyone who has accumulated good deeds in his family for a long time will surely have children by sitting in meditation in front of the Bodhisattva for a whole day and night.
At first, the people in the city were still dubious about this statement, but one after another they saw children born to families who had worshiped Guanyin. Gradually, families who had difficulty in giving birth went to the mountain to worship.
Of course, not everyone can receive blessings from the Bodhisattva. Those whose stomachs are still silent after worshiping the Bodhisattva, according to the abbot, are because their ancestors have not accumulated any good deeds, so they cannot bless future generations.
The benefactor surnamed Wu in front of me is the shopkeeper of a bank in the city. He is also over thirty years old and has no children. This time he donated a large amount of sesame oil money to the temple, so that he had the opportunity to have the Bodhisattva consecrate and pray for his wife.
After chattering for a while, the man left with a smile, but his pace was obviously much brisker when he walked.
Watching the other party leave, Fahai's eyes showed some pity.
If he had read correctly just now, the man's internal fire was weak and his kidneys were failing. He did not look like he was capable of having an heir.
If his wife becomes pregnant in the future, Fahai doesn't know whether to congratulate him or pity him.
Just as Fahai was thinking wildly, a hand suddenly pressed down on his shoulder from behind.
Fahai calmed down, but there was no big movement.
"Little monk, didn't I tell you not to run around in order to avoid bumping into the noble? The abbot kindly allowed you to be taken in for a few days. If you still don't know what to do, don't blame us for turning against each other."
Fahai turned his head, but there were two fat-headed and big-eared monks besides Juesi who had introduced him earlier.
"Amitabha, senior brother Juesi, I just want to pay homage to the Bodhisattva enshrined in the temple, and I won't wander around."
Fahai deliberately put on a cautious and flattering smile, and spoke extremely respectfully.
It was quite helpful. Seeing that Fahai really didn't move around much, Juesi softened his tone.
Pointing to the two monks behind him, Juesi smiled and said to Fahai:
"Jueming, senior brother Jueyuan is a very eloquent monk in the temple. I heard that my junior brother has traveled all the way here, and I think my vision is extraordinary, so I want to ask you for some Buddhist advice. Junior brother shouldn't refuse, right?"
"..."
Is it possible for me to refuse?
Looking at the two monks behind Juesi who smiled kindly at him, Fahai's mouth twitched slightly.
