191 Finally back on track

"Keith! I know you're up there, come down quickly! Come and sign for it!"

Case rolled his eyes and cursed in his mind. Hearing the shout meant that he had to walk down the stairs again before sitting down, counting and signing, which made him really annoyed.

After all, three minutes ago, he had just climbed the long stairs, jogged all the way back from the dock, and walked back to his office, which was high up in the workshop and could overlook the entire workshop. He just took a breath, opened the door, and found the list of materials.

A loud shout came from the door that had not yet been closed.

"Another car coming? How many times have we come today? It's either this or that. If this continues, I won't have to do anything every day. I might as well just wait and sign here!"

He walked angrily to the unloading point downstairs. The tractor driver was already waiting in front of the truck. He looked at the tired face and swallowed back the curse words that had reached his lips.

"List!"

Keith took the receipt form handed over by the driver and asked him casually:

"How many times have you run today?"

"It's been 7 times. It takes an hour to go back and forth. I'm exhausted."

The driver's voice was so tired that he was trembling. Driving a tractor without assistance is a very physical job. Coupled with the harsh working environment and road conditions, fatigue is an inevitable result.

Case briefly counted the steel plates on the car and signed his name. Case tore off half of it and put it in his pocket, then handed the folder back.

"Are there any more today?"

"It's gone today, the last car, and the rest will probably be delivered tomorrow. It's getting dark, hurry up, I still have to drive back."

"Okay, right away."

Case raised his hands above his head, opened them slightly, and made a gesture like a Frenchman facing the top of the factory building.

A whistle sounded from the ceiling, and then a heavy, rattling sound of metal began to move.

That's the sound of the overhead crane.

In order to ensure that Ta Island has ship production capacity as early as possible, Polu invested a lot of resources and time in the shipyard - after all, ships will be the lifeblood of Ta Island in the future! The island only has limestone and iron ore, and even copper is used a little less.

!

If we don't build a ship quickly, won't we die of suffocation on the island?

Although it is called a crane, it is essentially a gantry with its own steam power, moving along a track laid on the ground. Until a powerful enough electric motor is developed, a crane with a more compact structure will not be possible for the time being.

You can't put the boiler on the roof, right?

A set of pulleys with inverted T-shaped hooks hung down from the crane that spanned the entire factory. Several workers waiting on the side quickly pulled the hooks on the pulleys over and hooked them to the steel plate supports in the truck body.

When they were hooked, one person took a green flag from behind and waved it at the crane. The pulley began to lift slightly, tightening the thick wire rope.

"Okay! Go forward a little, go a little forward, stop! Pulley to the right! Stop!"

While shouting, he signaled with the two flags in his hands. He directed the overhead crane to align the lifting position. Then he checked the surroundings again. Finally, he gave the signal that it was ready for lifting!

Finally, the pilot, who raised his hands to signal, suddenly pulled the joystick beside him, and the flywheel set up behind him began to rotate. Amidst the clatter of a set of gears, the hook pulled the steel plate and began to slowly rise!

The bracket filled with steel plates hung in the air, and the fierce sound of the whistle echoed in the workshop. The overhead crane began to move slowly. It slowly crawled for a distance and stopped at a place where grid lines were painted on the ground.

After coming down, the crane lowered the bracket under the guidance of the ground, and beside it, on the ground covered with grid lines, there was already an empty bracket waiting.

The empty bracket is lifted by the same process and moved towards the tractor.

Case watched the empty brackets being placed in the truck bed, and looked at the unloading area not far away. Workers began to use small cranes to peel off the steel plates from the full brackets, and he still felt a little sigh in his heart.

"This thing is very convenient and saves us a lot of effort."

"Okay, I'm going to prepare the car for the return journey."

The tractor driver checked the indicator of the water tank, then looked at the pull rope of the fixed bracket, pulled the whistle, raised his hand to signal to the crowd, and exited the workshop door.

The chug of the tractor gradually faded away, and Case walked towards the other end of the workshop.

Workers in the unloading area began to remove the steel plates from the brackets, put them on special small trailers, and drag them into their production line.

At the end of their production line is a steel frame that is half exposed from the dock and looks like a giant birdcage.

This is the first general cargo ship being built on Ta Island!

Polu stood in the dry dock, looking at this huge 50-meter-long steel structure. He was considering where to optimize it.

"I feel like everything can be changed, but I didn't think of it before I started doing it! Forget it, this boat is as it is and won't be changed anymore. Hurry up and get in the water and start running!"

To be honest, he is actually an outsider in shipbuilding. In terms of technical level, this ship is actually still at a very low level. The hull is actually just a floating iron box, and the only advanced part is the watertight compartment in the bottom warehouse.

——I learned this from watching movies.

Although Polu can't think of anyone other than Nazwa's group of giant fools who would have the guts to openly challenge the authority of the mage. Anyway, the cargo hold can be segmented into non-connected iron boxes. It doesn't take much trouble, so just do it.

.

"Okay, the material verification is over. They are all here, and some have backups."

Keith ran over with sweat on his head.

"Okay, thank you."

Bolu looked at the huge components that had been installed on the keel support and nodded.

"Then sound the alarm and ask everyone to leave the scene."

After completing the assembly at the steel plant, Polu found that he could finally use the assembly technique completely. He felt that even if he could not completely assemble a ship from its parts using the assembly technique, he could assemble the scattered parts.

Down.

Today is his first practice!

He plans to complete the assembly adjustments that took up the most production time in the past by himself!

Currently, there are only cylinders, flywheels and boilers installed on the brackets, and various connected pipelines and connecting rods are piled in designated areas on the ground. Following his established habits, he wrote down the assembly sequence of the pipelines from inside to outside.

In my mind, when I start later, I just need to follow the order!

"It's time to begin!"

After hearing the report, Bolu nodded and started his first independent assembly!

The wire tubes placed in different areas floated, and they flew towards the place where they were to be installed according to the designed path, and started automatic assembly.

The workers, who had seen the grand scene of steel plant construction, were in a calm mood, waiting for Polu's work to be completed.

Assembling a boat by assembly is much faster than letting workers assemble it! This saves a huge amount of time!

This time he did not bring a charger or amplifier, so the current goal he has set for himself is to complete the assembly of the power cabin and it will be considered a success! In case there is still energy left, it would be great to lay more steel plates!
