Chapter 6, Fried Dumplings

Early the next morning, Shi Ke moved two sets of tables and chairs from the store to the entrance of the store and set up a stove next to it. Xingping also came to help.

After the two of them finished their work, Yukihira wiped his sweat.

"What are you doing? It's such a big fight. Isn't the store big enough? You want it to come to the door."

"A food stall, a food stall, if it is placed in a house, is it still called a food stall?"

Yukihira was stunned.

You are so right, I am speechless.

"I'm going to buy groceries. It's time for you to go to school, right?"

Xingping was stunned for a moment, looked at his phone, picked up the prepared lunch box, and ran away, "Ah!! We're going to be late!"

"Bye. I wish you a happy study today." Shi Ke watched Xingping leave.

"Damn it!!" Yukihira roared as he turned the corner and disappeared.

"Hmm. The pot is a bit small, so let's make do with it." Shi Ke shook the pot in his hand.

It can't be compared with Chinese pots, they are too small.

"Let's go buy vegetables first. Then we can decide what to do when we come back." Shi Ke hummed a little tune and set off towards the vegetable market.

At about half past nine, Shi Ke came back carrying his wife with a load and humming Zhu Bajie.

"Hey, little brother. Are you opening the store today?" The uncle who is a regular customer of Xingping's store has already arrived.

"Um...Hello everyone. I am opening the shop today, but if the food is not delicious, don't blame the boss. I am just making extra money."

"Where's the boss?"

"He's out for something, and he won't be back until this evening. Xin Ping goes to school. I'll borrow the land and make some snacks for sale."

"Snacks. Brother, do you have a boss who makes delicious ones? Back then, the pepper pancakes he made were quite delicious. The whole street wanted to eat them again."

"Oh. I'm making pan-fried dumplings today. If you think it's good, please give me a thumbs up."

"Oh? Fried dumplings? Chinese fried dumplings?"

"Of course. However, I have made certain modifications according to Japanese cuisine. I'm afraid you won't be used to it."

"I haven't eaten it yet. I'll order one first. When can I eat it?"

"The first pot will be out at about eleven o'clock." Shi Ke looked at his phone.

"Really? Then I'll have fried dumplings for lunch today. Brother, I heard boss Xingping say at the vegetable market yesterday morning that your cooking skills are quite good."

"No, it's just like Yukihira-kun."

"That's pretty good! Yukihira is the kid who's the best at cooking on this street."

"Thank you for the compliment, uncle."

"Then I'll come back at noon."

"Well, uncle, bye."

The uncle left, and Shi Ke returned to the house and started making fried dumplings for lunch.

Time passed in a flash.

Shi Ke arrived at the door carrying two hundred fried dumplings that he had just wrapped.

The uncle had arrived long ago, along with two other regulars of Yukihira's restaurant.

"Uncle, you're a little early. It's not even eleven o'clock yet."

"Watching other people cook is also a kind of enjoyment."

"Then please take a seat. I'll serve the dumplings as soon as they come out of the pan."

"Okay." The uncle found a chair and asked the other two people to sit down.

"Yamamoto, there are only fried dumplings today? Why don't we find another restaurant? Boss Yukihira and the kid are not here, so I'm afraid the sign will be ruined."

"Oh, the boss of this kid Yukihei said he did a good job. I guess he is at least on the same level as little Yukihei. What he cooks is edible."

"Oh? I can't tell." Regular customer A glanced at Shi Ke, who was slowly pouring water into the pan.

"Don't worry about it. If it doesn't taste good, just don't eat his food in the future. This guy probably won't stay here for long." Regular customer B said.

Bah!!! A strange fragrance suddenly filled the nostrils of the three of them, interrupting their words.

"You seem to be really capable." Regular customer a.

"I told you earlier." Uncle.

"When I smell this smell, I... get hungry." Regular customer b.

"Me too." Regular customer A wiped his saliva.

"Young man, hurry up a little bit, these two are hungry."

"Oh, right away, just five minutes."

Five minutes later, "Everyone has been waiting for a long time." Shi Ke brought three plates of fried dumplings to the table.

Five golden fried dumplings with simple shapes and large fillings were lined up in a row, with a slight sheen of oil, and a faint aroma seduced the stomachs of the three guests.

"Smells! It smells so good!" The uncle picked up the plate and smelled it and said.

"Smell the fart, eat it." Regular customer A eagerly picked up a fried dumpling and stuffed it into his mouth.

"Hot, hot, hot... delicious! Hot, hot, hot! But, it's really delicious! Ho ho ho ho... it burns me to death!" Regular customer A was as hot as a ventilator from the fried dumplings stuffed into his mouth.

It seemed like he wouldn't spit it out.

"Sir, eat slowly. If you eat it just out of the pot, it will burn your mouth if you eat it too fast." Shi Ke said as he brought a glass of cold water.

"Yeah!! Ha...thank you."

"You are too impatient. How can you eat such a good thing in one bite? You have to eat it slowly, bite by bite, so that you can taste the real taste. Your mouth is numb now, so you can't taste it anymore.

For the time being, we can only watch how miserable we are."

"It's okay, it's delicious. I was the first to eat it, and I will eat it slowly next. There are five on a plate, so I won't be full."

"Don't be picky. It's just a snack, not a staple food."

The uncle looked at his fried dumplings, picked one up, looked at it, and slowly took a bite. He was stunned.

"The meat filling actually bounces to your teeth. It's so chewy! It's like a tornado has set off in your mouth! The gravy is perfect, the meat filling is firm, and it's paired with the crispy dumpling skin. It's great and so refreshing.

Oh...how come this meat filling has a cool and sweet feeling? These dumplings are obviously hot. What kind of seasoning can still make people eat it cool?" The uncle looked at Shi Ke.

Shi Ke smiled and said nothing, refusing to ask for business secrets.

"Uh... I'm sorry, I shouldn't have inquired. I lost my temper." The uncle was a little embarrassed. The more he thought about it, the angrier he became. Every time he got angry, he would become more serious, and he would try again!

"Hey, it's good." Shi Ke came with fried dumplings.

Regular customer B ate two dumplings and praised them for a long time. After thinking about it for a while, he took out his mobile phone and called someone.

After a while, a group of about ten young people arrived.

"Hello, teacher." The young man greeted regular customer B.

"Well, try it quickly, the fried dumplings here are really delicious. If you weren't my students, I wouldn't tell you. Buy it quickly, the quantity is not much, and you won't be able to eat it if you start it late.

"

The students looked at each other, doubtfully bought a few portions and tasted them. Then..., the phone call came and the store was full.

"Oh, there are a lot of people." Shi Ke looked at the store full of people, touched his chin, and took out all the remaining dumplings, three hundred, from the refrigerator.

Shi Ke thought for a while and put back forty more for dinner.

In the world of foodies, food always runs out very quickly.

Isn't that right? All 260 dumplings were sold out in less than an hour, and the time had just reached twelve o'clock.

"Sorry, it's sold out." Shi Ke announced.

"Ah? I just arrived!" said the eldest lady in line.

"Sister, you have queued up to buy four times." Shi Ke touched his chin and said.

The eldest sister walked away dejectedly.

"Everyone, I'm sorry, I really don't have any ingredients today. So, I'm sorry, I have to close early." Shi Ke showed the empty vegetable basket.

"Oh, I want to eat two more plates..." All the customers in line felt pity.

"Everyone can go tomorrow. I'll do more tomorrow."

"Okay! I'll come early tomorrow morning!"

"Don't be too early, the first pot can be served around seven o'clock." Shi Ke said.

"Okay!! I'll have fried dumplings for breakfast tomorrow."

In the next ten minutes, Shi Ke persuaded all the guests to leave.

"Huh...I'm so exhausted. Money, money." Shi Ke came into the store with the money he earned today, sorted it out, licked his thumb, and started counting.

After a hard day, it feels so good to count the money.

After counting the money, Shi Ke started cleaning. He mopped the broom and wiped the rag, and the store looked like it had been renovated.

At about five o'clock in the afternoon, Yukihira went home, and Shi Ke was sitting on the ladder cleaning the white paint on the signboard.

"Shi Ke, how are the food stalls doing today?"

"It's okay, the stall will close at twelve o'clock."

"You won't smash the sign, right? So early?"

"I made too few snacks and they were sold out before twelve o'clock. After all, I'm the only one."

"What kind of snacks did you make? Are they sold so fast?"

"Fried dumplings."

"Aren't fried dumplings a staple food? When did they become a snack?"

"If you eat it as a meal, it's a staple food. If you eat it as a snack, it's a snack. My fried dumplings are only five in a portion, so they can only be used as a snack."

"A portion is only five...it's really dark."

"You can't let me sell it at a loss. What brand is this paint? The detergent is useless. It's really hard to wipe off." After Shi Ke finished speaking, he wiped the signboard hard twice, but the paint didn't move at all.

"I'll do it." Yukihira said.

Shi Ke curled his lips, happy to be at ease, and went down the ladder to change people.

Yukihira climbed up the ladder and began to paint.

After a while, the boss came back with the bag.

"Dad." Xingping said hello while sitting on the ladder.

"..., it seems something happened." The boss glanced at the sign, but he didn't pay much attention to it based on his expression. He just mentioned it casually.

"It's not a big deal, it's just a group of unreasonable guests." Xing Ping said calmly, but in his heart.

This store is my fortress where I have perfected my cooking skills. No matter who comes, I will never let this store close.

"Chuangzhen..., I plan to go out of business for two or three years."

"哐!! Bang~! Oh~~~" Yukihira came down from the ladder.

As for how it came down, you can imagine it based on the sound. Anyway, Shi Ke was watching and it just hurt.

"But, having said that, I still have to apologize to the regular customers." The boss actually walked into the store by himself without even looking at him. It seemed that he was quite confident in Yukihira's ability to withstand a beating.

"Apologise to your son first!"

A certain author: In the anime world, if a chef doesn’t resist beatings, he can’t survive.

"How could...how could you make your own decisions?!" Xingping was quite resistant to going out of business.

"My former partner asked me if I wanted to work with him. It will be busy there for the time being, so I don't have time to go back to the store. I packed my luggage and left immediately."

"Wait a moment……"

"I will pay you for your living expenses."

"Wait a minute!!! I want to stay in this store all the time...just to surpass dad~!!" Yukihira was so excited.

"Pfft..." The boss stretched out his right hand and gently touched Yukihira's chest.

Xingping was stunned, what are you going to do?

"It's time to embark on a journey!! Chuangzhen, go and try your abilities!!"

"???"

"Here." The boss took out a document from his bag.

Shi Ke stretched his neck and took a look, thinking, "What is supposed to come has finally come."

Xingping looked at it and said, "Chef school?"

"Yes, this is the application for admission."

"Why should I go to a place like that to learn cooking now?"

"Isn't this just right? During the few years when it was closed, you went to this college to study, and you could also get high school credits."

"ah?"

"That's it, you go study for three years."

"Okay..." Yukihira replied weakly, thinking about it.

You actually spend money to learn cooking, what an idiot...
