035 [Dragon Field Enlightenment]

Is Wang Yangming both civilized and military?

yes.

Is Wang Yangming physically strong?

No.

"Cough cough cough cough!"

Before he put down his bow and arrow, Wang Yangming coughed loudly and quickly rolled up his sleeves to cover his mouth.

"Uncle!" The two servants hurried over to help him.

"It's okay, don't panic." Wang Yangming pushed the servant away and used the guidance technique to adjust his breathing. There were faint traces of blood on his sleeves.

Wang Yangming has been frail and sick since he was a child. He started coughing up blood when he was 28 years old, and gradually recovered after being nursed back to health. His old illness relapsed when he was 30 years old, and he has been in good health ever since. At the age of 37, he was beaten with forty sticks and imprisoned. He slept in the open all the way to Guizhou and fell ill again recently.

, but he has been holding on.

When Wang Yangming was young, he practiced martial arts to strengthen his body. Later, he practiced Guidance to cure lung diseases. Hearing that mercury could cure lung diseases, he even took mercury for a period of time.

The lung disease has recurred. I drank alcohol and played Qidou Bow just now. It would be strange if I didn't cough and vomit blood.

Therefore, don't think that Wang Yangming is a strong man, he is very weak.

Emperor Zhengde, who was regarded as a macho man, was also a sick man. This is recorded in "Records of Xiaozong", "Records of Wuzong" and "History of Ming Dynasty".

Zhu Houzhao had been frail and sick since he was a child. Emperor Hongzhi canceled the Sutra feast many times because his son was ill and was not in the mood. After becoming emperor, Zhu Houzhao often fell ill in winter. He once had a cold that did not recover for three months, and his own immunity was extremely poor.

Wang Yuan glanced at the blood on Wang Yangming's sleeve and thought: Could it be tuberculosis?

There are indeed some historians who believe that Wang Yangming suffered from tuberculosis, but this is all speculation. However, congenital lung disease is certain, and it manifested itself since childhood. Wang Yangming eventually died of lung disease.

"Mr. Yangming, you should stop drinking." Wang Yuan reminded.

Wang Yangming waved his hand and said, "It doesn't hurt to have a drink once in a while."

Wang Yuan pointed to the walls of the cave: "Also, you should move out as soon as possible. The humidity here is very heavy."

Wang Yangming said: "The local Miao people are planning to build a few thatched houses for me."

"What's the use of thatched roof? It's better to follow me back to Guizhou City." Wang Yuan said.

Wang Yangming shook his head: "I am Longchang Postmaster, and I cannot stay too far away from the post station."

Wang Yuan smiled and said: "Then you have to deal with An Guirong. This Longchang Post was built by the An family, and the daily management and maintenance also depends on the An family. You have to write a letter asking the An family to pay for the repairs."

"You call him by his name. Do you know General An?" Wang Yangming asked.

As early as the Chenghua period, An Guirong was awarded "General Zhaoyong", a third-grade military attaché, which is equivalent to an honorary title, similar to the "Zhengyi Doctor" and "Jiayi Doctor" among civilian officials.

Song Ling'er suddenly laughed: "I have known Fatty An for a long time. He is a little thinner than my father."

Wang Yangming asked curiously: "Who is this young lady?"

Wang Yuan introduced: "Song Linger, the daughter of Song Ran, the Xuanwei envoy of Guizhou."

"I see."

Wang Yangming couldn't help but look at Wang Yuan a few more times. This young man gave him such a strange feeling. He liked to use the full name of his teacher, local superiors, and companions without even adding the word "taboo".

.

Moreover, when facing Wang Yangming, this young man did not show much respect, but communicated with him like a familiar friend.

You could say he was disrespectful and brought wine here from Guizhou City. This kindness is very precious.

Wang Yangming had seen Guizhou Jinshi before, but none were as carefree and carefree as Wang Yuan.

Wang Yangming asked: "How many years have you been studying?"

Wang Yuan replied: "Two years."

Wang Yangming asked: "How is your studies?"

Wang Yuan smiled and said: "I still remember the Three-Character Classic and the Thousand-Character Classic. I can't memorize all of the Little Four Books, but I have the general content in my heart. I am familiar with "The Great Learning", "The Doctrine of the Mean", "Mencius" and "The Analects of Confucius".

"I can barely memorize it. I have only learned a few chapters of "The Book of Rites" and I am studying it seriously."

Wang Yangming admired and said: "You are very talented in reading. You can recite the "Four Books" in two years."

Before Wang Yangming passed the imperial examination, he could recite the "Four Books", but now he has forgotten a lot, and only the key chapters can be recited in full. Even the deputy envoy Xi Shu, who was the deputy envoy to study, had almost forgotten it, but when he mentioned it, he could recite it.

After becoming an official, I picked it up for review.

This is normal. Even the top scorer in the college entrance examination admitted to Tsinghua University will forget most of what they learned in high school a few years later.

Wang Yuan said: "I am just about to ask Mr. Yangming for advice."

"Then let me give you a test." Wang Yangming was delighted when he saw his talent, and directly asked questions about what he had learned before, "Mencius said: 'He who knows his nature knows his nature. If he knows his nature, he knows heaven.

Preserving one's mind and nourishing one's nature is why one serves heaven. When one's life is short, one must cultivate one's self in time for it, so one can establish one's destiny.' What do you understand by this passage?"

Wang Yuan said: "I agree with Zhu Xi very much in this passage. It is nothing more than 'keep your mind and nourish your nature, so you serve heaven'."

The words "serving heaven" and "manifest destiny" here are not fatalistic, but emphasize "heart" and "nature". According to Zhu Xi's explanation, the heart is the god of man, possessing many principles and responding to all things. Xing is the principle of the heart, and human nature

Destiny is realized from the mind.

In human terms, destiny is a person's lifelong mission. Keep your mission in mind, never forget your original intention, and work hard to do it.

However, Wang Yangming used this to understand life and death, carved the oath on the stone pier, and urged himself to practice it throughout his life.

This is not yet enlightenment, but the direction of enlightenment is already there - Zhu Xi emphasized the relationship between the heart, nature, and reason, but did not explain how to obtain understanding. He only talked about studying things to gain knowledge, but Wang Yangming never figured it out. Only Wang Yangming

Only when the "principle" is clearly understood can one truly realize enlightenment.

Wang Yangming asked again: "What kind of heart should I keep and what kind of nature should I cultivate?"

Wang Yuan pointed his halberd towards the sky: "My heart is the heart of heaven, my nature is nature, and my destiny is destiny! Keep my heart, nourish my nature, and fulfill my destiny, that's all."

"Ha ha ha ha!"

Wang Yangming laughed, pointed at Wang Yuan and said, "You have the legacy of Lu Xiangshan."

Lu Xiangshan is Lu Jiuyuan, a figure in the Southern Song Dynasty and one of the founders of Lu Wang's psychology. He once said, "The universe is my heart, and my heart is the universe." It is similar to what Wang Yuan said just now.

But Wang Yuan didn't know, so he curiously asked: "Who is Lu Xiangshan?"

Wang Yangming asked back: "You don't know Lu Xiangshan, but you still say, 'My heart is the heart of heaven'. Did you realize it yourself?"

Wang Yuan thought for a while: "I just think. Zhu Xi's words are too general, ambiguous, and all empty words. Heart and reason cannot be imagined by blind imagination. You have to have contact and experience. And everyone is different, not just ideas.

They are different, and their own circumstances are also different. The principles I knew when I was ten years old are different from the principles I knew when I was twelve years old. It is enough to practice the principles I think are correct."

Wang Yangming thought silently and said: "I have had this theory of yours when I was young. But there is still one thing missing. The truth you think may be just a fallacy, and the truth must be in line with the Tao."

Wang Yuan shook his head: "Is governing the country and bringing peace to the people in line with the Dao?"

"Forget it," Wang Yangming said.

Wang Yuan smiled and said: "I live in the Ming Dynasty. One day I will be a general and become the prime minister. The country I will rule is the Ming Dynasty, and the people who will be safe will be the people of the Ming Dynasty. I heard that the remnants of the Mongols in the north are seizing the border every year. If I want to rule the country and bring peace to the people, I must sweep them away.

Mongolia. My way is not in line with the way of the Mongols. Countless Mongolian people may find it difficult to make a living because of me."

"This is sophistry!" Wang Yangming didn't fall for it at all. "Governing the country and bringing peace to the people is the main road in the Ming Dynasty and Mongolia. It is in fact irrefutable. You want to distinguish the differences between individuals, but there are differences between people, but there is no difference in the main road. We should do

How to obtain the truth and use the truth to follow the road! Not personal falsehoods or personal petty ways. If you don’t know the truth and practice your life, the stronger your ability will be and the greater the harm will be."

"I've learned a lesson." Wang Yuan cupped his hands and clasped his fists, but he actually didn't take it seriously.

After a conversation, it was getting late, and Wang Yuan said goodbye and left.

That night, Wang Yangming tossed and turned and couldn't sleep. Wang Yuan's words "My heart is the heart of heaven" lingered in his mind.

"Boom!"

Lightning flashed and thundered, as if it were daytime.

Wang Yangming suddenly stood up in shock and couldn't help but let out a loud roar and said to himself: "The way of the sage is that my nature is self-sufficient, and it is wrong to seek the truth from it!"
