Chapter 48 Regret

Lu Man did not return home early in the morning, but sat in a nearby park for two hours. It was not until he watched the aunts and uncles finish their morning exercises and dances that they walked home.

Entering the Lu family mansion, a place where she had lived for twenty years, the familiar layout and familiar people made her feel a little deep in thought.

"Miss, are you back?" Sister-in-law Zhang saw her and came forward with a smile. She took her hand and looked up and down. She frowned and asked, "Oh, why are you so haggard? Miss, what happened?"

Look at this face, he has lost weight."

Lu Man smiled slightly, hugged her arm and said coquettishly: "It's nothing, I just miss you and your soup."

After hearing this, Mrs. Zhang immediately smiled, her round face full of kindness, she patted the back of her hand gently and said, "What's so difficult about this? I've already cooked it, and it will be ready to drink in two hours."

Lu Man hummed, took a look at the house and said, "Has dad gone to the company? Does he go out early and come back late these days? Does he eat on time?"

"Who can tell me? It was one or two o'clock when I came back last night. I saw that the master had lost a lot of weight." Aunt Zhang sighed and said, "When the master came back last night, he smelled of alcohol all over his body. I took the soup.

When we brought it to the room, he was already asleep and had not even unbuttoned his suit."

Lu Man felt a pain in her heart, as if she had drunk vinegar, it was sour and uncomfortable.

"Sister-in-law Zhang, I will stay at home for a few days to accompany my father. You go and do your work. I will go upstairs first." She made up her mind, pursed her lips and said

Mrs. Zhang was overjoyed, responded, and walked straight to the kitchen, thinking about making something delicious to feed the two father and daughter.

Lu Man went up to the second floor, and first walked into Lu Zhongping's study. There was a pile of documents on the red sandalwood desk, and a photo frame was placed on the table. Inside was a photo of her and her father.

In the study, the air was a little dirty. She coughed twice, her eyes fell on the crystal ashtray on the table, and her heart twitched again.

In the ashtray, there are at least thirty cigarette butts, dark yellow in color, placed randomly, or thrown horizontally or vertically in it.

Dad actually started smoking again?

Seeing these cigarette butts, Lu Man's heart felt like it was being pinched by an invisible hand, and he was a little breathless.

When she was a child, she had strep throat and was particularly sensitive to the smell of cigarettes. She felt like she couldn't breathe when she smelled cigarettes. For her sake, her father made great efforts to quit smoking for nearly twenty years. But now, he started smoking again.

Got it

Dad must be very distressed about the company, Lu Man thought, biting her lip. What was even more distressing was that she couldn't do much to help.

Lu Man regrets that she did not choose the Department of Finance and Economics when she was in college. Otherwise, she would not be in this situation now.
