Chapter 39 Ah Shirley

A delicate figure was bending over, struggling to carry a bucket of water with both hands, and moving towards the distance.

The burgundy ponytail swayed like cool well water rippling in a wooden barrel.

Luofu frowned slightly. He stopped and observed for a while, and after confirming that it was Shirley, he slowly walked towards the thin girl, reached out to grab the bucket, and helped her lift the water.

Shirley raised her head in shock and found that it was Luo Fu. Today was Saturday. Why was he here?

When the girl came back to her senses, the boy was already carrying the bucket and was a few steps away. She stretched out her hand to wipe the sweat from her forehead and hurriedly followed him.

"Rolf, why are you here?"

"I made an appointment with Professor Sprout to give her the potion today and then take the herbal seeds...what about you?"

Shirley pursed her lips and remained silent for a moment before saying, "Work-study program is a job provided by Hogwarts to poor students."

Rolf hummed, and he remembered that Hogwarts would indeed provide funding for those little wizards who could not afford to go to school.

For example...Tom Riddle took it.

The financial aid was not much, and after buying the wands, robes and other necessities mentioned in the admission notice, there was not much left.

But the school will provide some positions for poor wizards to work-study without affecting their studies.

For a moment, both of them were silent. Shirley walked up, grabbed the barrel and said, "I'll do it, this is my job."

Luofu hummed, but did not let go. He asked: "Which area should be watered?"

"Those black trees..."

Luo Fu glanced up and whispered: "Dharma Protector Tree."

After arriving under the tree, the young man reached out and touched the trunk. Seeing Shirley's curious face, he explained:

"The Protector Tree is a magical sorbus tree. As long as you touch the trunk of this tree, you can be protected from harassment by some dark creatures."

The girl with the ponytail blinked and reached out her right hand to touch the tree trunk. After thinking about it, she raised her left hand and touched it vigorously.

It seemed that if you touched it twice, you would get double protection. Shirley's mood suddenly improved.

A bucket of water did not water a few trees, and it soon reached the bottom. Shirley grabbed the bucket and refused to let Rolf help any more.

"I can do it myself. I used to fetch water and wash myself in the morning and evening in the monastery. Even though I am so thin, I am very strong."

Luo Fu remained silent and followed Shirley to the well. He watched her hang the barrel on the rope and throw it down. When the barrel sank to the bottom, the girl struggled to turn the well pulley.

The well's windlass creaked.

Luo Fu observed for a moment and said: "Shirley, this well is magical. As long as you tap this brick, it will automatically send the bucket up."

"Eh?!"

When the girl heard Luo Fu's words, she felt a little discouraged. After her strength weakened slightly, she heard a pop and the half-drawn barrel fell straight down.

"..."

"How did you know?"

"You're right, I've seen similar magic wells, and there's a badger pattern on this brick. If I'm not mistaken, it's the one that hits here."

Rolf took the magic wand and knocked on the brick, and sure enough, the windlass started spinning automatically.

Shirley sighed, thinking that she had done useless work all morning, and half of her good mood disappeared. The remaining half was that she could use the magic well, which would save a lot of energy in the future.

"Didn't Professor Sprout teach you?"

"It's my first day at work. Before Professor Sprout could teach, a group of animals that emerged from the forbidden forest not long ago harassed the greenhouse, and she went to drive them away again."

Luofu frowned, what happened in the Forbidden Forest, and why did he come to harass the greenhouse every day?

The wooden barrel came to the wellhead with a creaking sound. Shirley carried the bucket filled with water and placed it on the ground, then untied the rope.

Luofu looked at the girl's thin back, remained silent for a moment and said, "Shirley, how much salary does the school give you every month?"

"Ten galleons, just Saturday and Sunday mornings every week."

"It's very little, but with this working hours, it doesn't seem like we can ask for too much." Luofu looked at her and asked seriously, no more nonsense.

"Shirley, are you short of money?"

The girl with the ponytail did not answer, she lowered her eyebrows, and her eyelashes could be faintly trembled. After a moment, she nodded gently and said:

"I am willing to come to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, not only because I can leave the monastery, but also because Professor McGonagall told me that I can graduate from Hogwarts at the age of eighteen, and then I can work and make money."

Luofu stared into the girl's clean eyes and sighed softly:

"Ah~Shirley."

"Um?"

"Otherwise...you can be my assistant."

"ah?"

"I need an assistant." Rolf turned around, with a smile on his face, and said calmly: "I can give you thirty Galleons every month."

"Your Celia Magical Animal Shop?" The girl blinked her long, autumn eyes, "But I don't know how to treat animals."

"I don't need you to see a doctor. I want you to help me take care of some docile animals. They are a little..." Luofu scratched his hair and said, "Naughty."

Shirley stared at Rolf, seeming to think about whether the young man was a liar. How could she be worth thirty galleons a month?

Even if you sell yourself, it’s not worth it!

Shirley looked at Luo Fu, thought for a moment, and said doubtfully: "You're not lying to me, are you?"

Rolf said calmly: "Hufflepuff students are all honest and loyal, and they will never lie to others."

"..."

"What should I do with this thing?" Shirley glanced at the bucket she was still carrying.

"If you don't want to do it, Professor Sprout will let the house elves do it. They can do magic, so they don't have to work as hard as you, and they are more efficient." Rolf waved his hand and said:

"Let's go, find Professor Sprout first, and then I will show you the working environment. You will like it there."

Rolf carried the black leather box and walked towards the greenhouse door, just as Professor Sprout came back from outside.

He said hello, handed Professor Sprout the potion made from Hokrapu juice, and then explained his hiring of Shirley.

Professor Sprout held a small steel fork and opened his mouth. She wanted to train such a beautiful girl to be an assistant. Even if she kept it in front of her, it would be good for her eyes.

Why did I go out for a night out and find that my home had been stolen when I came back?

Professor Sprout looked at the two people's retreating figures and felt a little envious. Who in their teenage years had not dreamed of being Scamander's assistant?

Rolf walked at the front, and Shirley followed closely behind. The boy finally took the girl to an abandoned empty classroom in Hogwarts Castle.

He placed the box on the ground, turned to Shirley and asked, "Are you ready?"

"What preparation?"

Luo Fei raised his hand, leaving a little space between his thumb and index finger and said: "It will be a little bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside, don't be too surprised."

The girl looked confused.

Luofu opened the box, tilted his head and said, "Come in quickly, what are you waiting for?"

"Where to enter?"

"The box."

Shirley was confused, thinking that Rolf was crazy. How could he get into such a small box? The girl instantly imagined the horrific stories about killing people and hiding corpses in suitcases. She was horrified...

Luofu had already raised his hand, pushed the girl's back gently, and said with a smile: "Let's go!"

Luofu then stepped forward and disappeared into the box in an instant, and the lid of the box closed with a snap.
