7. The Lost Underground

Heat waves from the magma sea radiate throughout the underground world.

This is intuitively reflected in the stone pillars that support the world. The rock mass on the side close to the magma sea is more fragile and mottled. With a gentle move of the palm, dry stone pieces fell off like fragments, falling towards the city dozens of meters below.

The sulfur-smelling hot wind blew the tips of his hair, and Lu Li looked down at the underground world.

The lost giant city at your feet is located in the center of the underground world. On one side is the magma sea downstream, which is distorted by heat waves in the distance, and it is impossible to see whether there is the other side. On the other side, the upstream side is illuminated by the magma river, extending into the gray depths.

The narrower ends are also more than ten miles wide.

The underground world is shaped like a wide river.

Lu Li stared into the depths of the underground world.

If it wasn't a conspicuous city, he would have walked upstream after coming out of the hole.

Withdrawing his gaze, Lu Li continued to climb up the spiral stone steps.

The height of the stone pillar is about 600 meters. The steps are as large as the city below, about 1.5 times the size of human buildings. The thicker rock steps allow the spiral steps to retain their main body even after hundreds of years of corrosion.

This integrity becomes incomplete a hundred meters above the ground.

Chips and peelings can be seen everywhere on the steps. The side close to the magma sea looks like burnt bread crust when you step on it. The stone crust breaks into powder with a crisp sound, leaving conspicuous footprints.

Starting from an altitude of two hundred meters, the hot airflow blowing from the magma sea becomes more turbulent, like the hot wind passing through the door of a house on a hot summer day.

The surface of the coat becomes moist and warm, and it will be completely dry in less than ten minutes.

As we approached the middle of the stone pillar, some disturbing changes occurred.

The steps under my feet suddenly trembled slightly, and gravel bounced up.

Lu Li suddenly quickened his pace and climbed up more than a dozen stone steps, but the shaking did not disappear.

Rubbles fell from the stone pillars overhead. The source of the tremors was not the stone steps or the stone pillars, but the entire underground world.

After dozens of seconds, the tremors gradually stopped. The gravel and dust that fell off the rock wall enveloped the entire underground world.

The light originating from the magma sea casts a light yellow veil of light on the ground.

On the edge of the gauze curtain, an inconspicuous black spot stepped on the steps in the middle of the stone pillar.

Lu Li put down the arm that was blocking his eyes, looked around the ground where a sandstorm was raging, and continued upward.

In any case, vibrations of unknown origin are not a good sign.

Lu Li no longer conserved his energy and moved upward faster.

But starting from 300 meters, Lu Li had to slow down. The damage to the steps became more serious, and missing corners and fragility were no longer a problem.

Large areas of stone steps have fallen off and become pitted. If you are not careful, they may collapse if you step on them. Some of them can even be seen through the gaps.

This is not the most difficult stage. When I stood in the square and looked up, I saw that the stone pillars started from the middle and upper section, and the stone steps were as incomplete as a cliff. There was also a section of nearly ten meters of bare stone pillars without any stone steps.

Approaching the height of 400 meters, Lu Li had to test whether the steps on the upper level were strong before he could lower his weight.

But an accident still occurred at 450 meters.

The stone steps that had been confirmed to be strong before suddenly collapsed, throwing Lu Li down who was standing on it.

Lu Li reacted quickly and grabbed the edge of the stone steps with his right hand, leaving deep finger marks on the fragile surface. Fortunately, it was strong enough to bear all of Lu Li's weight, allowing him to hang more than 400 meters above the ground without any damage.

Along with the collapsed stone steps, they fell to the city below.

Withdrawing his gaze downwards, Lu Li raised his left arm and grabbed the edge of the stone steps, pulling his body up.

And almost a few dozen seconds after he climbed up the safe stone steps, the second shock came.

Because he had been here once before, this time Lu Li vaguely felt the source of the vibration - the depths upstream of the underground world.

The second shock was more intense than the first. The entire underground world was like a steam train running on railroad tracks, but it lasted only a few dozen seconds and disappeared in a hurry, leaving behind an underground area occupied by sand and gravel.

Dusky dust filled the underground world, and visibility suddenly shrank to less than a hundred meters, isolating the individual from the world as if doomsday was coming. The light from the magma sea pulled Lu Li's long and narrow shadow and projected it into the dust.

The air became choking, Lu Li lowered his head, and continued upward after the vibration stopped.

No matter what the source of the vibration is, he must reach the top of the stone pillar before the third vibration arrives.

A few minutes later, the stone pillar was five hundred meters away.

Lu Li was only a hundred meters away from the top of the stone pillar.

It is also the most difficult section of the road to climb.

Most of the incomplete stone steps only have their roots left, like a steep cliff. Although there are stone steps that appear to be relatively complete at intervals, no one knows whether they can carry Lu Li or are deadly traps before stepping on them.

Lu Li clung to the stone pillar and moved upward layer by layer.

The time it takes to walk from the bottom to a height of 100 meters only takes two and a half laps to a height of 500 meters and a height of 10 meters.

The third underground tremor happened ten minutes later, but it was not as violent as Lu Li imagined, and was even gentler than the first time, as if the crisis was over.

Only the loud noises echoing in the hollow valley deep upstream meant that the matter was not over yet.

Lu Li released his grip on the rock wall and continued climbing up.

Three minutes later, Lu Li climbed 570 meters up the stone pillar, and the rock wall was within reach.

But the top of the head is nearly ten meters, and there are only stone pillars protruding from the rock.

And at the end of the upstream, the echoing noise became louder and louder.

Lu Li grabbed the protruding rocks with both hands and climbed up in a spiral layer by layer.

Fortunately, the stone is still strong and only a small amount of stone skin has fallen off.

His muscles gradually became sore, but Lu Li was getting closer and closer to the stone steps above - until he circled from the magma sea side to the upstream side.

The reverberating noise faded away from the sound changed by the terrain, and turned back into the most realistic sound of the tide.

The raging tide came from upstream, overwhelming the sky.

Watching this scene, Lu Li suddenly understood why the city that had been lost underground for hundreds of years was spotless.

The scary thing is not the tides themselves. They cannot break down cities, nor can they break down stone pillars.

It's the moment when the turbulent tide converges into the magma sea.

The tide rushed forward dozens of meters with loud rumbling noises every second, reaching the edge of the city in the blink of an eye.

Lu Li climbed up at a faster speed and reached the top of the bare stone pillar. Using the force of his feet, he jumped up and grabbed the edge of the incomplete stone steps.

Wow——

The stone steps he held with his right hand fell off and broke. The stone steps below bounced and rolled out, disappearing into the waves pouring into the city.

Chi——

At the same time, the front end of the tide touches the magma sea, and a large cloud of white mist-like steam emerges.

Climbing up the stone steps, Lu Li, who was only thirty meters away from the upper level, leaned forward and ran up in a panic but swiftly. The stone steps collapsed and shattered as he passed.

The magma and the tide officially collided, and the white mist that could boil the land instantly rose up, hit the top of the rock wall, changed its shape, and spread to the surroundings——

The underground world began to become sultry, and the steam mist was getting closer and closer to the stone pillars.

And the dark upper space is right in front of you.

The lighthouse bloomed, and Lu Li ran into the upper space and jumped out to the edge——

The terrifying high-temperature steam rushes into the upper space behind it.
