941, Zhaojuns Tomb

Everyone is familiar with Hohhot, the pearl of northern Saibei and the capital of Inner Mongolia. It is called the city for short and was formerly known as Guisui or Yunzhong.

But what most people don’t know is that Hohhot has two famous ancient cities in its history.

One is the Guihua City built in the third year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1575 AD), commonly known as the Old City. Guihua City was first built in the sixth year of Longqing in the Ming Dynasty (1572).

One is Suiyuan City built in the fourth year of Qianlong's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1739 AD), commonly known as the New City.

The Hohhot we see today was formed by the merger of the original Guihua City and Suiyuan City, hence its name Guisui. During the Republic of China, it was Guisui City, the capital of Suiyuan Province.

"Hohhot" means "green city" in Mongolian. The city of Guihua City was not large in scale. At that time, Guihua City was made of blue bricks and looked green from a distance. The local Mongolian people called it "Kukuhetun", also known as "Kukuhetun".

Translated as "Hohhot", the Chinese meaning is "green city".

Because there is a magnificent "Dazhao Temple" in the city, Mongolians, Hans, Tibetans, and Jurchens used to call this place "Zhaocheng" with a homonym.

In the Battle of Zhaocheng the year before last, Lin Dan Khan's army once captured this place and temporarily subdued the Mongolian tribes in Monan. As a result, the Taiji and Tabu Nang in Monan all surrendered to Huang Taiji in an attempt to win over Jianzhou to resist Chacha.

Hal.

If Yang Fan hadn't decisively marched out of the fortress and destroyed the thirty-six tribes of Haraqin and Duoyan, now everything outside Ji Town would be the territory of Jiannu.

News of the arrival of the Beijing army had already reached the city. At this time, the city gates were closed and the walls were covered with Mongolian soldiers.

The army camped on the banks of the Dahei River in the southern suburbs outside the city. This river had sufficient water resources, making it easy for the army to fetch water.

Yang Fan's army and civilians numbered less than 200,000, and there were hundreds of thousands of livestock. Drinking water was a big problem. The place to camp must be chosen carefully.

On the bank of the Dahei River, there is a very tall mound of earth. The tomb was built manually and is a large mound of 33 meters high. It covers an area of 30,000 square meters and is almost the same as a hill. The mound is covered with dense vegetation.

In front of the mound, there is a stone archway with two Chinese characters for "Green Tomb" written on it.

Yang Fan and Zhang Shize curiously walked to the stone tablet and looked at these two words, not knowing what they meant. They roughly understood that this was a tomb, but they didn't know whose it belonged to.

After passing the stone archway, they saw a tall brick pavilion in the distance, and they continued walking over.

This time I saw clearly that it was an official tombstone.

In the brick-vaulted stele pavilion, there is a larger stone stele with the inscription "Tomb of Concubine Ming of the Han Dynasty"

"Concubine Ming, who is Concubine Ming?" Yang Fan felt that it was very familiar, but he couldn't remember it.

"Oh, isn't this Wang Zhaojun's tomb?" Zhang Shize slapped his thigh and exclaimed. And it must be this playboy. The first thing he thought was that this was Wang Zhaojun, one of the four beauties.

Yang Fan suddenly became excited. After all, this was one of the four beauties. A girl from Hubei.

The little beauty Wang Qiang entered the Weiyang Palace in Chang'an, and later married the Southern Xiongnu. As the official wife of Shan Yu, she contributed to the friendship between the ethnic groups.

"Zhaojun has done great service to the country by going out of the fortress. Let's send people to sacrifice and sweep it." Yang Fan said. "But I think this place is good. It is a commanding height. From the top of this seal, you can overlook the entire Guihua City."

Yang Fan is actually a rather unsightly person, and he always sticks to his profession.

In the first sentence, he lamented the burial ground of the four great beauties, but in the second sentence, he actually wanted to use this place as a headquarters. Because it is more than thirty meters high, you can observe the situation of Guihua City on the opposite side across the Dahei River.

Zhang Shize was also speechless.

I originally wanted to discuss with him the issue of Shanxi accounting for half of the four beauties. It shows that Shanxi girls are pretty good.

Last time I was at Jimingyi, there were several Datong girls in the troupe. They were fair and tender, and they were called Shui Ling'er.

As a result, Yang Fan chatted with Tian'er to death and had no choice but to shake his head in disappointment.

The two of them climbed to the top of Tushan Mountain. From here, the scenery was beautiful.

In the distance to the north is Daqing Mountain, and to the south of the mountain is a fertile field suitable for farming and animal husbandry. Guihua City, a famous city in the north of Saibei, is located on the plain south of the mountain. The Dahei River flows through the south of the city.

"There is support at the back and photos in front. The Feng Shui here is really good." Zhang Shize sighed. "I wonder if Alatan Khan and Sanniangzi asked a Feng Shui expert to show them to them when they built this city." Wang Yi of Shunyi

The descendants of this line have always been prosperous, keeping pace with the Chahar line of Dayan Khan, and the two powers have been competing for supremacy for more than a hundred years."

"It is indeed a good feng shui, but it is also a fortified city. I don't know how Lin Dan Khan defeated it last year. He did not have our siege weapons." Yang Fan said.

"I heard that he was a traitor among the Tumut people, and the city gate was opened for him in the middle of the night." Zhang Shize didn't think highly of Lin Dan Khan, so he curled his lips and said.

Viewed from the top of the mountain, Guihua City is majestic and the buildings in the city are magnificent and large-scale.

Zhang Shize pointed to the distance and introduced: "Look, that part of the city is the palace of Alatan Khan and Sanniangzi. The city wall of this city is the outer wall of the palace. It is not so much a city as it is the palace of Shunyi. Long Qingliu

It was built in 2007.”

"This small town is not big, with a circumference of two miles and a height of three feet. It is made of rammed earth and covered with bricks."

Yang Fan looked at it with a telescope for a while and said: "The city is indeed not big. Each section of the city wall is only about 250 meters long. There are only two gates in the north and south. There are horse paths up and down the wall on the east and west walls. It is smaller than Jining.

.”

Unlike the Han region, Mongolia has a large labor force.

It is difficult to survive on the grassland, it is difficult for the population to reproduce, and various natural disasters occur frequently. At the same time, the amount of pasture for livestock also limits the population, and a few kilometers of grassland can only feed a family.

This small town took more than eight years to complete.

The city is actually the palace of the Prince of Shunyi, and the city wall is just the outer wall of the palace. The herdsmen still live outside the city. There are dense Mongolian camps outside the city, with felt bags like white clouds dotted around lakes and river branches.

between.

Most of the Tumut people were concentrated around this city. They faced off with Jingying across the Dahei River. Both sides had a tacit understanding of keeping this distance and had no intention of immediate conflict.

Two to three hundred meters in front of Zhaojun's tomb is the Dahei River, which meanders from west to east. About four kilometers past the north bank of the river is Guihua City. On the west side of the city is a north-south tributary of the Dahei River.

This tributary and the L-shaped area of the Dahei River are filled with Mongolian tribes preparing for war.

Yang Fan carefully observed the interior of the city. It was already evening. The afterglow of the setting sun filled the city with golden light. The glazed tiles of the palace, Dazhao Temple and Yinfo Temple in the city were all golden yellow, which was really beautiful.

Yang Fan suddenly remembered that he still had an unmarried wife. She was the princess here. She was born in this city and grew up in this city.

When she was sent from Ansanxi, she was sent to Xinghe Academy Women's College to attend school.

It seems that if the fight breaks out this time, it would be best not to tear down the little girl’s home.

At this time, Zhang Shize poked Yang Fan with his arm and motioned him to look north.

Yang Fan picked up the telescope and looked to the north.

At this time, smoke and dust billowed from Daqing Mountain, and countless cavalry, chariots and horses surged over.

Tumut reinforcements arrived.
