Chapter 42 The Temple

In Li Huowang's impression, most temples are built on mountains, and temples built in cities are relatively rare.

But this is not what he cares about. What he cares about now is the name of the temple that the pilgrim just mentioned, "Zhengde Temple?"

Li Huowang immediately recalled what Zhengkun said to Danyangzi before he died. It seemed that they had been hunted down by the monk from Zhengde Temple.

His heart began to beat faster. He had found the right place. After experiencing so many things along the way, he finally arrived.

At this moment, following a turn, the view suddenly opened up.

Clean and tidy stone slabs flowed all the way down the wide steps, and at the end of these hundreds of steps, a solemn temple with cigarette smoke and maroon walls came into view.

The black plaque above the tall temple door has three characters written in vermilion: Zhengde Temple,

The first couplet: Cultivation of virtue leads to the perfection of the Dharma body; the second couplet: The clear water and the moon show the dignity of the jade cover.

Under the strong incense, the entire temple was shrouded in white smoke, looking very fairy-like.

"Little Taoist Master, I won't accompany you in. Please do as you please. By the way, Xijing City is different from Jianye. There is a curfew at night. Remember to come back before dark."

Li Huowang took a deep breath and walked towards the crowded steps.

Following the pilgrims, we walked into the temple and saw several main halls in front of us.

At this moment, Li Huowang stood there like a rock in the crowd, looking at everything around him.

The temple was found, but the next question stumped him. How should he contact the monks in this temple?

If you directly say that you are a disciple of Danyangzi, you will be slapped to death by them if you don't die.

Before Li Huowang could think of a countermeasure, the monk from Zhengde Temple came over first. After all, even in the crowded crowd, Li Huowang's robe was too eye-catching.

As soon as the other party opened his mouth, the pure Buddhist flavor was not comparable to that of the old monk before. "Amitabha, this poor monk is so polite."

Seeing the rich monk in front of him clasping his hands in front of him, Li Huowang immediately returned the greeting. "Master, it's a pleasure to meet you. I'm in Xuanyang."

"As a Taoist disciple, the donor must not have come to this temple to burn incense and worship Buddha, right? This way, please."

Looking at the lively crowd around him, Li Huowang nodded and followed him towards the side door.

Looking at the scar on the monk's head in front of him, Li Huowang began to wonder what to say next.

The two of them kept shuttling between the majestic temples, and the noise of the crowd at the entrance gradually receded. Finally, they stopped in front of a set of stone tables and benches under a brilliant yellow ginkgo tree.

"Donor please." Monk Jianchuan sat down and slowly turned a string of Buddhist beads in his hands.

He did not ask Li Huowang which sect he belonged to, nor did he ask Li Huowang, showing the Buddhist disciples' pure heart and indifferent desires vividly.

After Li Huowang thought for a while, he looked at the monk in front of him. "Danyangzi is dead."

With a "click" sound, the yellow-brown Buddhist beads scattered everywhere.

Seeing the fat monk in front of him stand up, Li Huowang nodded secretly.

It is unmistakable. The monks here have indeed come into contact with Danyangzi.

"Then the wise old man is really dead? This matter is of great importance, so please benefactors to come to us one by one."

Since you want to know the answer, of course you have to tell the other party enough information.

In addition to concealing the fact that he had taken the so-called Heavenly Book, Li Huowang told the monk in front of him everything that happened at Qingfeng Temple.

"Master, can Danyangzi in that situation really become an immortal?"

Speaking of this, Li Huowang leaned forward slightly and continued to ask with a solemn expression: "Or maybe he became something else?"

A breeze blew by, rustling the golden leaves of the ginkgo tree next to it.

"Donor, did you really hear that Danyangzi was talking in your ear?" Jian Chuan confirmed again with the same solemn expression.

"Well, it's absolutely true, and it's not just an illusion, but also the abnormality of joy."

Recalling the scene at that time, Li Huowang showed a hint of irritation in his eyes.

"The God of Joy, who cannot be seen directly, originally wanted to crawl out of the darkness and eat me, but his body hidden in the darkness seemed to be pulled by something."

"Although there is no reason, I have a guess in my heart that the one who pulls the god of death in the darkness is Danyangzi, the Danyangzi who became an immortal."

Jian Chuan thought about it with a solemn expression and then stood up. "Donor, please wait a moment. This matter is of great importance."

After saying that, Jian Chuan clasped his hands towards Li Huowang, turned around and left in a hurry.

Although the other party didn't say anything, his attitude already conveyed some information.

Li Huowang raised his head and looked at the clouds in the sky. "Sure enough, Danyangzi's matter will not end so easily."

Jian Chuan came back faster than Li Huowang expected, with no more than half a stick of incense at most. He hurried back with a new string of Buddhist beads in his hand.

"Donor Xuanyang, please come this way. The abbot wants to see you in person."

Zhengde Temple is very large. After Li Huowang shuttled between the temples for a long time, he finally came to a magnificent hall.

Through the eight-door hall door, Li Huowang saw five huge and majestic golden Buddhas with a height of more than ten feet and sitting cross-legged in different postures.

On the futon in front of the five golden Buddhas, there sat a figure wearing a cassock, with a Five Buddha hat similar to that of Tang Monk on his head.

When Li Huowang walked in, he heard the monk's chanting. Because the hall was spacious enough, the chanting even had an ethereal echo.

Under the gaze of the five huge golden Buddhas, Li Huowang involuntarily began to slow down.

The chanting stopped, and the monk sitting cross-legged on the futon slowly turned around.

When he saw the monk's appearance, Li Huowang was surprised.

It was an old abbot with white eyebrows and beard. What was surprising was not his unusually kind appearance, but his eyes.

They were a pair of pink eyes. After spending so much time together, Li Huowang could tell at a glance that he, like Bai Lingmiao, suffered from albinism.

"Amitabha, I am so wise and polite." Abbot Xinhui clasped his hands together and spoke calmly.

"I'm in Xuanyang. I've met the abbot." After Li Huowang saluted, he sat down in front of him.

"Abbott, about Danyangzi——"

As soon as Li Huowang finished speaking, he was blocked by the opponent's raised hand.

"Donor Xuanyang, do you know the five Buddhas in this hall?"

Seeing Li Huowang shaking his head, Xinhui explained while stroking his white singing beard: "From left to right they are: Akshobhya Buddha in the East Xiangji World, Baosheng Buddha in the South Joy World, Amitabha Buddha in the West Paradise World, and Lotus World Achievement in the North

Buddha, they are collectively called the Five Wisdoms Tathagata."

Li Huowang couldn't help but feel a little anxious. What did the monk mean when he said these irrelevant words to him?

"Abbott, let's talk about this when we have time later. May I ask what has become of Danyangzi now?"

Xinhui clasped her hands together and looked at Li Huowang calmly again. "He has become a Buddha."
