Postscript to Volume 1

PreviousBack to directoryNext
()Hi! What a grind!

Here is an amateur novelist who has written more than a dozen chapters of 10,000 words this month and feels like he is going bald: Sou Mengmi.

Since the book was officially launched on April 18, it has been serialized for 5 months and 9 days, with a total of 1.125 million words written, and an average of nearly 7,000 words updated every day, which is quite diligent.

After more than five months of long serialization, the first volume of this book, "Qingdeng Fishing Book", has finally come to an end.

I have just finished the first volume after writing 1.125 million words... I guess it is within the author's expectations.

The author said in the "Writer's Words" in a previous chapter that this book may require nearly [8 million words].

This is not just bragging by the author. With the amount of plot in this book, it is really possible to write nearly 8 million words.

I divided this book into a prologue, a first chapter, a second chapter, and a final chapter, a total of 4 chapters.

Volumes 1 and 2 are the prologue, volumes 3 and 4 are the first chapter, and the volume numbers of the second and final chapters are kept secret for the time being.

In other words - [Although this book has already written 1.125 million words, it has not even finished the plot of the prologue]

Using "One Piece" as an example, this book is still at the stage when Luffy has just come out of the East China Sea. Using "Naruto" as an example, this book is still at the stage when Naruto has just finished fighting the Land of Waves and has not yet taken the Chunin Exam.

It is not until the second volume is finished that the prologue of the book is completed and Qingdeng’s story officially begins.

The amount of plot in Volume 2 is only a lot more than that in Volume 1. This means that Volume 2 will definitely have to be written about one million words.

By the time this book has been written with more than 2 million words, the prologue has just been written, and there will be a first chapter, a second chapter, a final chapter... The amount of plot in each subsequent chapter will only be greater than that of the prologue.

Even if it's less, it won't be much less.

To sum up, the fact that the book has more than 8 million words is not just a guess by the author, it is a reasonable estimate.

Some readers may want to ask - why can your book be so long?

The reason is also very simple: because the background of this book is the end of Tokugawa.

Book friends who are familiar with the history of the shogunate should all know that the historical Edo shogunate fell in 1868, and the history of the shogunate did not really come together until 1863.

Not much else to say, just the three events after 1863, the Ikedaya Incident, the Forbidden Gate Incident, and the First Choshu Conquest, are all big plots that cannot be summarized in hundreds of thousands of words.

Meet the Huigumi, Tenchu Party, Satsuma Army, Choshu Army, Aizu Army, Army Relief Team, Sea Relief Team, Tokugawa Iemo's forces in the shogunate, Hitotsubashi Keiki forces... You can sing and I will appear on the stage of various forces.

.

The plot includes assassinations, political battles, large-scale street battles, army decisive battles in the wild, and various types of girls posting...

There are so many stories that can be written that there is no need to worry about running out of stories to write.

So you don’t have to worry about whether the book is so long or whether the plot will be as long and smelly as the foot wraps.

Just writing the above-mentioned various stories is enough to make me tired, and if I have to cram a lot of words into it, then I may really die.jpg

The scale of this book is so grand that the author is somewhat motivated.

Just let me wash my hands and finish this sword and halberd novel of unprecedented scale! (Seal Rising.jpg)

Okay, this chapter is the epilogue to Volume 1 after all, so let’s put our perspective back to the plot of Volume 1.

The plot and characters of Volume 1... actually don't have much to say, it's just a fairly laid out worldview and story.

After several months of struggle, Qingdeng is finally leaving the practice and jumping to a higher stage.

Looking at the entire first volume, the characters that the author Jun Weiji wants to talk about in detail are Naoki Ii and his wife Aku.

There are different opinions on the merits and demerits of Ii Naoki.

Some people think that Ii Naomi was the pillar of the shogunate.

Some people think Ii Naoki is a brutal dictator.

The Naoki Ii in this book can be regarded as the Naobi Ii as understood by the author - he is loyal to the shogunate and wants to make the shogunate stronger again. But he often seems too conceited, which makes people think he is stupid.

He clearly knew that an assassin was going to assassinate him, but he refused to increase his bodyguards on the grounds that he could not disturb the rules.

Why did the guards not let the guards unsheath the scabbard in advance on such a snowy day? A widely circulated theory is that Ii Naoki thought that letting the guards unsheath the scabbard would make him appear to be afraid of the assassins.

, so the guards were asked to follow the rules and wrap their scabbards tightly.

The author has mentioned before that Ii Naobi's wife Aku has a historical prototype.

Before Naoki Ii became the head of the Hikone Domain due to some unforeseen circumstances, as the fourteenth son of the family, he had no chance to succeed him as the head of the family, and no other daimyo was willing to accept him as his adopted son, so he could only be regarded as an adopted son.

Mi Chong was raised by his family and lived alone in a remote small house.

He named his secluded place "Buried Wood House". He compared himself to a buried tree, a tree buried by fallen leaves, mocking himself that he would die in obscurity.

In these painful days when no one cared about him and he had nowhere to put his talents and knowledge to use, the young Naoki Ii accidentally met a woman - Taka Murayama, a geisha from Gion in Kyoto who was 6 years older than Naoki Ii.

The two often exchanged letters, and there is still a love letter written by Ii Naoki to Murayama Taka that has been handed down (at the scene of a large-scale corporate death):

[It turns out that the beauty is far away, and the bright moon tonight is missing because you are not by your side, and the full moon reflects the incomplete color. 】

For Naoki Ii, who has been living alone, Taka Murayama's companionship can be regarded as a different kind of salvation.

It's a pity that Taka Murayama, a geisha, did not seem to be together with Naoki Ii, who later became the lord of the Hikone Domain and the eldest shogunate...

In this book, as Ii Naoki's wife, Aku, who silently accompanies and supports Ii Naoki behind the scenes, is an original character based on Murayama Taka.

Naoki Ii's wife Aku has not left the show yet.

There will be more stories about Aku and the Hikone clan forces behind her, so stay tuned.

Although in the eyes of some book friends, the paragraph describing the death of Ii Naomi in this book is completely over-the-top, but judging from the plot structure of the novel, Ii Naomi's death is the first character conflict and conflict in this book.

The total conflict in the plot breaks out.

The Incident outside the Sakurada Gate well represents the tone of the Tokugawa era - bloodshed and unreasonable violence.

The assassins who believed that they were righteous and that their swords could usher in a new era took off the head of Naoki Ii in the heavy snow... The bad intentions of these assassins caused the era to run amok.

Until the end of the book, there will be a large number of plots directly or indirectly caused by the death of Ii Naomi.

Let’s take the plot so far as an example.

After the death of Ii Naobi, who advocated the "foundation of the country", the morale of a large number of "anti-barbarian patriots" represented by the anti-barbarian group was greatly boosted and they began to become rampant, which directly triggered the subsequent "Battle of Tibetan Book Transfer Station" and "Battle of Residence Areas"

.

The death of Naomi Ii caused the decline of the Nanki sect, and the power of the Hitotsubashi sect re-emerged. The "virgin widow" Tenzouin sister who many book friends cherished was asked by the Hitotsubashi sect to live in seclusion... What kind of plot will happen after this?

I leave it to your imagination.

By the way - Sister Tianzhangyuan will finally officially meet Qingdeng in Volume 2~~ (Applause.jpg)

It seems that there is nothing else I want to talk about, so I’ll end this postscript for now.

Tomorrow will officially start the serialization of the second volume of "Strength to the Sky".

As I said in the previous article, the amount of plot in Volume 2 is also extremely huge, even more than Volume 1. It should be able to be written until the spring of next year.

I hope everyone can watch the new chapter on time tomorrow!

I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all book friends who have supported this book!
